Located at the heart of the city, FKCCI Campus consisting of 3 structures, combines cultural heritage, and modern innovation. Set up as a response to new-age design requirements, the centenary building accommodates a 320-seater auditorium, boardroom, training rooms, offices, cafeteria and a fine dining facility. Built over an existing block of 2 floors and a basement, the main challenge was to design the structure in a manner that construction could be carried out without disrupting the day-to-day functioning of the existing buildings.
Maintaining a healthy dialogue between the old and the new, the contemporary structure is designed to create a harmonious contrast to the heritage buildings. Besides this, the design accommodates all the trees on site. Perforated sheet cladding to create the building skin makes the entire structure light and breathable. Bright red staircase, forming the fire egress, gives a vibrant accent to the façade. Translating this theme on the majorly white interiors, are colour accents marking different areas. A 4-floor high entrance lobby, fitted with louvers on its front facade, maximizes natural ventilation in common areas, making the structure full of light and vitality.
