Reflecting the dominant architectural design ethos of the late 70s, the Raman Research Institute is marked by straight clean lines, simple exterior finishes and a classic framework. Placed on a highly wooded site, the library is a part of the Theoretical Physics Laboratory in the Institute. Exposed concrete façade blends with the older buildings on campus while in congruence merging with the site’s thick grove of eucalyptus trees. The thick groves of trees shield the building from the road. The building employs simple interior finishes promoting heightened cross-ventilation and natural day-light.
