The Science centre holds forth the overall objective of the Krishnamurthi Foundation, creating an environment that is both respectful and appreciative of nature. The structure follows the slope of the land, flows around existing trees while the rectilinear form of the building frames the natural setting. The exposed granite masonry, terracotta walls, and kota stone floors seamlessly integrate into the surrounding environment. Open-to-sky classrooms shaded by trees provide interesting learning spaces. Complementing the main block’s orientation are catchments that ensure groundwater retention and minimize runoff into the lake. The atmosphere created in the centre is at once holistic and warm.
