USP India’s latest project is a part of the ICICI Knowledge Park in ‘Genome Valley’, an initiative by the Andhra Pradesh government in collaboration with the APSPCB to develop research initiatives in Pharma & Biosciences. With the ecologically aware disposal of industrial effluents among the many services central to the Park, this project marks the expansion of laboratory facilities for USP in India.
The new facilities will provide USP and Indian stakeholders with an increased ability to support Indian manufacturers and the Indian scientific community through development, synthesis and analysis of reference standards and related materials. USP's several compendia help assure the quality of medicines and their ingredients, dietary supplements and dietary supplement ingredients (traditional medicines outside the United States), and food ingredients. The expanded facilities will also house R&D activities in the areas of biological and biotechnological medicines and their ingredients, as well as analytical microbiology capability. The laboratory facilities include walk-in fume hoods and clean rooms of Class 10,000 and are designed around the latest sustainable models of architecture in the sector.
